Key Responsibilities & Authorities:
1. Professional and functional management of direct reports. Direct reports could include Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Laboratory technician, etc.
2. Create and maintain schedules for tasks and projects, using scheduling tools and processes such as MS Project, Gantt charts, and WBS.
3. Manage activities from concept, through design, release and up to implementation.
4. Act as technical expert and process expert, advising and coaching subordinates to resolve technical or operational problems.
5. Set annual and ongoing goals and objectives for team members. Write and conduct annual appraisals for team members, actively assessing team’s needs and gaps.
6. Accountable and responsible for the quality of deliverables of each engineer within the reporting structure.
7. Create metrics on tracking design efforts, resources, and effectiveness towards improving product development cycles and quality. Lead functional process and tool improvement initiatives by being early adopter of ideas. Foster creativity and innovation in design solutions.
8. Lead the team, create a fostering environment for growth and development of team members, develop their skills and ensure motivation and delivery is high.
9. Support Post Market Surveillance activities (CAPAs, Risk Management, Investigations)
10. Support or Lead Development activities, including, Requirements creation or modification, design, BOM creation, Design Transfer, release of design (ECR/ECN) and implementation.
11. Collaborate closely with other teams or groups as part of New Product Development or Released Product Development activities

Education:
• BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Robotics. Strong technical foundation in engineering development principles
Experience Requirements:
• Minimum 7 years as a Mechanical Engineer – must.
• Minimum 3 years with proven experience as manager – must.
• Experience in Robotics – advantage
• Complex electromechanical systems development.
• Multidisciplinary systems development (pneumatic, electric, mechanic etc.).
• Support manufacturers and assembly lines.
• Experienced and knowledgeable in design for reliability, serviceability, manufacturability and Design for cost.
• Working knowledge of stage/phase-gate product development process.
• Medical devices industry experience – advantage.
Specific Skills (Languages, SW, systems, etc.’):
• Function well in a team environment. Gain consensus, lead, influence, and ensure cross-discipline participation and feedback.
• Systematic approach to problem solving and issue resolution combined with good understanding of the relevant technologies and their practical applications
• Ability to effectively interface with team members in remote locations.
• Strong analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills
• Self-starter and capable of working with minimal supervision. Ability to multi-task and provide expertise and leadership across multiple projects.
