The company is seeking an experienced and highly motivated NPI Team leader, for the Engineering team, to lead support and improve new products and machine manufacturing.
Responsibilities
· Lead product NPI from concept to engineering release, including design, development, testing, manufacturing and field validation of new and existing products, to meet program deliveries.
Follow Development projects from Concept to mass production, providing technical reviews, testing and production readiness transition support.
· Lead Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s). Clearly, document changes and impacts of changes.
· Lead design for manufacturing (DFM) reviews to ensure producibility, inspectability, testability, maintainability, and repairability.
· Support the deployment of early supplier involvement through negotiation, target costing and tracking for assigned parts. Contribute to the development of effective cost models to track “target cost” status.
· Provide Product support and training for the Technical manufacturing team.
· Support First Article Inspections for mechanical and electrical components, subassemblies and assemblies
· Analyze test results and recommend design improvements as needed
· Assist in prototype and pilot builds, document the build process with work instructions, define and implement new manufacturing technologies.
· Setup quality, process expectations with manufacturing partners and suppliers
· Define and establish Lean manufacturing methods, processes, and tools for new products. Establish process controls and opportunities for Poka Yoke (mistake proofing of products and mistake proof processes).
· Drive root cause investigation and understanding of system level failure modes.
· Communicate and coordinate activities and development work across different functions and divisions.
Education and Experience
· Bachelors in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or applicable scientific field.
5+ year’s relevant experience in NPI Engineering (multidisciplinary projects experience preferred).
Knowledge and skills
· Broad and extensive manufacturing operations experience in hardware development, including sourcing of relevant raw and complex hardware, sub-system, new product introduction, operations planning, factory management outsourcing, and manufacturing partnerships.
· SolidWorks experience with a working knowledge of PDM
· Extensive knowledge in manufacturing technologies, materials, coatings and quality control – advantage
· Excellent problem-solving skills; hands on individual willing and capable of supporting the manufacturing and service.
· Capable of working in high-risk profile, dynamic environment
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, mastery of English
